One of the new techniques going around is to run the outline only in black thread and let your favorite little somebody color the design in with markers or gel pens made to color fabrics. These designs are perfect for coloring. Make sure you prepare your fabric before you begin to color and test the markers on a scrap of fabric first to be sure the markers don't run. 

These designs have a nice, heavy outline, as you can see, making lovely redwork.
